sweeden-ttu/cloudfronts-site-agents

v0.2.0MIT

Custom agents for maintaining cloudfrontsgroup.org: Jekyll modularization, page conversion, site review, UI/UX layout judging, content editing, design critique, and social distribution, plus the site's Jekyll conventions as a skill.

cloudfronts-site-agents

An Agent Plugins 1.0 package that bundles the custom agents used to maintain cloudfrontsgroup.org. Install it to get the agents in the Agent dropdown of VS Code chat (Copilot harness) and in GitHub Copilot CLI.

Install

Pick one. All three are described in docs/agent-plugins-in-vs-code.md.

A. VS Code, from this folder (recommended while developing)

  1. Open the Chat view and set Session Target to Copilot.
  2. Select Open Customizations in the Chat title bar (or run Chat: Open Customizations).
  3. Select Plugins, then the + next to Workspace.
  4. Enter the absolute path of this folder, for example /Users/you/cloudfrontsgroup.org/.github/plugins/cloudfronts-site-agents.

Or run Chat: Install Plugin from Source from the Command Palette and paste the same path or the Git URL https://github.com/sweeden-ttu/cloudfrontsgroup.org.

B. GitHub Copilot CLI, from the published repository

# once .github/plugin/marketplace.json is on the default branch
copilot plugin marketplace add sweeden-ttu/cloudfrontsgroup.org
copilot plugin install cloudfronts-site-agents@cloudfronts

# or install the subdirectory directly, without the marketplace
copilot plugin install sweeden-ttu/cloudfrontsgroup.org:.github/plugins/cloudfronts-site-agents

VS Code automatically discovers plugins the CLI installs under ~/.copilot/installed-plugins/.

B2. GitHub Copilot CLI, from this local checkout (verified with CLI 1.0.65)

Two quirks of the CLI shape these steps. Pointing marketplace add at a folder that is a git checkout makes the CLI resolve it to the GitHub remote and clone that instead of reading your files. And a marketplace entry whose source resolves outside the marketplace folder is rejected with "Plugin path escapes marketplace directory". The fix is a small non-git wrapper folder containing a symlink to the plugin:

REPO=/Users/you/cloudfrontsgroup.org            # your checkout
M=~/.copilot/local-marketplaces/cloudfronts-local
mkdir -p "$M/plugins"
ln -sfn "$REPO/.github/plugins/cloudfronts-site-agents" "$M/plugins/cloudfronts-site-agents"
cat > "$M/marketplace.json" <<'JSON'
{
  "name": "cloudfronts-local",
  "owner": { "name": "Cloud Fronts Group" },
  "plugins": [
    { "name": "cloudfronts-site-agents", "source": "./plugins/cloudfronts-site-agents", "version": "0.1.0" }
  ]
}
JSON
copilot plugin marketplace add "$M"
copilot plugin install cloudfronts-site-agents@cloudfronts-local
copilot plugin list      # -> cloudfronts-site-agents@cloudfronts-local (v0.1.0)

The install is a copy, not a live link. After editing an agent here, bump version in plugin.json and the wrapper's marketplace.json, then run copilot plugin update cloudfronts-site-agents (or Check for and Apply Updates in VS Code).

C. Workspace recommendation (automatic for teammates)

.github/copilot/settings.json in this repository registers the cloudfronts marketplace and enables cloudfronts-site-agents@cloudfronts by default for Copilot sessions. In the Local harness VS Code shows a one-time notification offering to install it.

Verify

Open the Agent Customizations editor, select Plugins, and confirm cloudfronts-site-agents is listed and enabled. Then pick Jekyll Site Reviewer from the Agent dropdown and ask it to review the current changes. Jekyll Page Converter is intentionally hidden from the dropdown (user-invocable: false); the Modularizer calls it as a subagent.

Bump version in plugin.json and in .github/plugin/marketplace.json when you change an agent, so installed copies pick up the update via Check for and Apply Updates.
