sqone2/five9-agent-plugin

v0.1.0

Five9 API skills and a credential-safe NG REST Admin MCP server for GitHub Copilot.

Five9 Agent Plugin

A team-shared GitHub repository for working with Five9 through GitHub Copilot agent skills and a local Model Context Protocol server.

The repository is an Agent Plugins 1.0 package. Installed plugins provide the skills globally. The authenticated MCP server remains workspace-scoped through .vscode/mcp.json because the portable plugin specification does not define secure credential inputs for stdio servers.

Included

  • five9-ng-rest-admin skill for the verified Next Generation REST Admin contract.
  • five9-crm-sdk skill for ADT browser integrations, callbacks, hooks, presence, and interaction events.
  • Typed MCP tools for listing supported NG REST Admin versions, getting one version, probing a domain, and listing users.
  • Read-only NG REST Admin coverage; no mutation tools are currently exposed.

The repository can be hosted and shared on GitHub. The stdio MCP server itself runs locally for each team member; GitHub does not run that process.

Requirements

  • Node.js 22 or later
  • VS Code 1.99 or later with GitHub Copilot
  • Organization policy allowing MCP servers, when using Copilot Business or Enterprise
  • Five9 credentials with access to Next Generation REST Admin

Setup

npm ci
npm run build

Open .vscode/mcp.json and start the five9 server from the CodeLens. VS Code prompts for the username and password; these values are not committed.

The NG REST Admin client uses Basic authentication and the documented base URL https://api.five9.com/restadmin/api. A local FIVE9_NG_REST_ADMIN_BASE_URL override is available for testing; do not commit credentials or private environment details.

Install As An Agent Plugin

After publishing this repository, run Chat: Install Plugin From Source from the VS Code Command Palette and enter its public GitHub URL. The skills become available globally after installation.

To use authenticated MCP tools in a Five9 workspace, copy the .vscode/mcp.json configuration into that workspace and point args to a built checkout of this repository. VS Code securely stores each workspace folder's username and password inputs.

Development

npm test
npx @modelcontextprotocol/inspector node dist/index.js

The Inspector requires FIVE9_USERNAME and FIVE9_PASSWORD in its environment.

Adding APIs

Five9 APIs will be added one at a time. Each addition must be verified against current official documentation and should receive its own focused skill, MCP tools, and tests where appropriate.

Official starting points are the Five9 Developer Portal and the Five9 CRM SDK documentation.
