Bridle
Bridle is a reusable skill for working with the Bridle Chrome extension through Codex or another AI assistant. It supports typed or spoken requests and guides feedback capture, review, handoff, implementation and verification. The skill does not install Bridle or grant browser or filesystem access.
First-time setup
- Follow the Bridle setup guide to install Bridle in the Chrome profile you want the assistant to use.
- Visit bridle.io. Sign up or sign in if you want account-backed features or Bridle asks you to. Some basic feedback capture works without an account, subject to current limits. Complete sign-up yourself; an assistant should not handle account credentials.
- Enable the assistant's browser control for that same Chrome profile and allow access to your website.
- If you want the assistant to implement feedback, open the website's code repository in the coding assistant. Clients can use Bridle to capture and review feedback without a code repository.
Install the skill in Codex
In a Codex chat, ask:
Use the skill-installer to install the Bridle skill from
https://github.com/sandundev/bridle/tree/main/skills/bridle. After installation, tell me it is available on my next turn, then give me Bridle’s short first-time setup guide and ask me to completehttps://bridle.io/setup.
The installed skill repeats this guide on the first Bridle-related turn unless setup is already confirmed or you provide a Bridle Copy AI prompt. It also gives copy-ready examples for capturing feedback, reviewing saved items, and capturing before implementation, so a new user has a concrete first command to try.
Example prompts:
- “Open [website] in Chrome and use Bridle to capture a Bug on [element]: [what happened]. Save it and tell me the REQ ID.”
- “Review my latest Bridle feedback for [website]. Summarize the items and suggest next steps; don't change code yet.”
- “Capture [issue] with Bridle, confirm the REQ ID, then investigate and fix it in this repository. Verify the result on [local or test URL].”
Codex installs the skill and its reference guides into your user skills folder. It is available on the following turn; start a new chat if you want a clean conversation.
Start a Bridle task
In the new chat, try:
Use
$bridle. In my connected Chrome tab, use Bridle to capture the broken avatar as a Bug. Confirm the saved REQ ID before editing code, then fix it in this repository and report how you verified it.
For Bridle tasks, the skill requires saving and verifying feedback before implementation, unless you explicitly ask the assistant to work outside Bridle. Existing Bridle feedback is reused by its REQ ID rather than captured twice.
For AI capture, the skill must first reveal Bridle with Command+Shift+9 (Mac) or Ctrl+Shift+9 (others). Then it holds Command+Shift / Ctrl+Shift while clicking the picker, releases modifiers and selects the target. Typing, appending and saving status stay in the same type-coloured note; save with Command/Ctrl+Enter. Repeat the sequence for each feedback. Normal Add Feedback capture is not an automatic fallback: missing bars require recovery checks; older builds require updating. A regular picker click remains the human path to the standard form. The skill does not update the installed extension itself.
