Agent skills
Agent skills for Ploy. Install them into any repository and run them with your own Codex, Claude, or Cursor subscription; no Ploy account is needed to install, and the skills tell the agent when a Ploy login is required.
| Skill | Purpose |
|---|---|
ploy-site | Build or migrate an existing GitHub or local website into Ploy's Astro runtime, then sync local edits with the Ploy CLI. |
Install
Ploy CLI (installs the skills for your user, so every project sees them)
curl -fsSL https://ploy.ai/install.sh | sh
The others install into the repository you run them in.
skills.sh
npx skills add Ploy-AI/ploy-tools
Claude Code plugin
/plugin marketplace add Ploy-AI/ploy-tools
/plugin install ploy@ploy
Codex plugin
codex plugin marketplace add Ploy-AI/ploy-tools
Then install ploy from the ploy marketplace in /plugins. Codex also
installs the bare skill with $skill-installer from
https://github.com/Ploy-AI/ploy-tools/tree/main/skills/ploy-site.
Cursor
This repository is an Agent Plugins package
(plugin.json at the root), so it loads in Cursor unchanged: add it to a team
marketplace with "Import from Repo", or clone it into ~/.cursor/plugins/local.
npx skills add above also writes .cursor/skills/.
Manual
mkdir -p .agents/skills .claude/skills
git clone --depth 1 https://github.com/Ploy-AI/ploy-tools.git /tmp/ploy-tools
cp -R /tmp/ploy-tools/skills/ploy-site .agents/skills/ploy-site
cp -R /tmp/ploy-tools/skills/ploy-site .claude/skills/ploy-site
rm -rf /tmp/ploy-tools
Each skill is a self-contained folder: SKILL.md plus a references/
directory. Codex reads .agents/skills/, Claude Code reads .claude/skills/,
Cursor reads .cursor/skills/.
Workflow with the Ploy CLI
The native ploy binary needs no Node, npm, or Ploy login for this flow. The
skills here are user-level: they are meant for a user working in their own
codebase with their own Codex or Claude subscription, before a Ploy site
exists, so they are installed once per machine rather than per repository.
- Install the CLI:
curl -fsSL https://ploy.ai/install.sh | sh. The installer runsploy skills bootstrapfor you (setPLOY_INSTALL_NO_SKILLS=1to skip it, or run the command yourself later). Bootstrap fetchesmanifest.jsonfrom this repository (main; override with--source <raw-url>), validates each skill, and writes:~/.agents/skills/<id>/- the skill files (read by Codex)~/.claude/skills/<id>- a relative symlink to the folder above (read by Claude Code)~/.agents/skills-lock.json- a lockfile in the skills.sh format:source, sourceType, skillPath, andcomputedHashper skill.
- Open any repository in Codex or Claude Code and ask for the skill, e.g.
"Use the ploy-site skill to migrate this site into Ploy." The skill tells
the agent when
ploy loginbecomes necessary. - Keep skills current with
ploy skills sync --check(exit 1 on a local edit or a newer published version) andploy skills syncto reinstall drifted skills and refresh the lock. Both work from any directory without login.
ploy skills bootstrap never replaces a same-name skill folder it did not
record; pass --force to take it over. Skills that Ploy manages for a Ploy
site (ploy skills init/sync inside the site) stay per repository and are
separate from this user-level set.
Use
Ask the agent to migrate the site, for example:
Use the ploy-site skill to migrate this site into Ploy.
The agent inspects the source, offers a whole-site or selected-page migration, builds into a Ploy Astro destination, verifies it, and pushes with the Ploy CLI. Publishing only happens when you ask.
Layout
skills/<id>/- one folder per skill, the format read by Codex, Claude Code, and skills.shmanifest.json- file list per skill, read byploy skills bootstrap.claude-plugin/- Claude Code plugin and marketplace metadata; Codex reads the samemarketplace.jsonplugin.json- Agent Plugins manifest read by Cursor and other standard-conformant clients
Add a skill by creating skills/<id>/SKILL.md with name and description
frontmatter and listing every file in manifest.json. Editing a published
file is enough to ship an update: ploy skills sync --check and
npx skills check compare installed folder hashes with main.
